Somerset is the home of the world's most famous music festival at Glastonbury, as well as being the place where folk songs were first recorded by Cecil Sharp.  Currently Somerset is alive with the sound of music in the shape of community choirs, orchestras, operatic groups, carnival concerts and an incredibly vibrant gig scene, especially indie, rock, ska and punk. Somerset legend Joe Strummer's legacy lives on in his music charity Strummerville.
